Terol “T‑MAC” McCullar

Storyteller of two worlds — the raw, unflinching reality of California’s prison system and the philosophical wonder of humanity’s first contact with extraterrestrial life.

With a 26‑year career as an instructor for the California Department of Corrections and more than 40 years of writing, Terol McCullar brings a rare authenticity to every page. His HOGGS: Prison Journals series captures the true stories of the staff who lived them — the mundane, the dangerous, and the unforgettable. His S.I.C.Q. sci‑fi novels explore what happens when proof of alien life forces humanity to confront its deepest beliefs.

Now, with five published books, a growing catalog of book trailers and interviews, and a forthcoming trilogy, DNA: Alien Legacy, McCullar continues to write stories that challenge the mind and reveal the truth.

HOGGS II: Prison Journals

This sequel to HOGGS: Prison Journals delivers more true accounts of the staff’s daily lives and interactions with inmates in the State of California Department of Corrections.

These journals offer a snapshot of the challenges of the job mixed with insight, humor, and the good and bad decisions of staff. Although the writing is bent to the jargon of the correctional environment, the lay person is continually educated in the processes used by staff to navigate the changing rules and regulations of the department.

While staff, current and retired, may recognize certain details of incidents, institutions, and personnel, they soon realize that the literary license of the author allows the story to take on its own version of reality. For my HOGGS sisters and brothers, be safe.

The saga continues.

About the Author

A Life in Stories

Terol “T‑MAC” McCullar grew up in the tumultuous ’60s and graduated from Richmond Union High School in the California Bay Area. As most of us from that time, he was part of a garage band. Over the years he worked about every type of job there was and studied law for a year.

He began writing S.I.C.Q. in about 1978 as he pondered how humanity would react if there was actual proof of extraterrestrial existence. However, life had different paths. Numerous jobs led to a 26‑year career as an instructor for the California Department of Corrections, which drove him to publish two books, HOGGS; PRISON JOURNALS and its sequel HOGGS II.

Eventually he finished S.I.C.Q and a sequel, SOS, and currently he is writing the trilogy, DNA: Alien Legacy. His books overflow with characters that he uses to carry the storyline — he purposely does not describe them, hoping their actions and words will create their own vision in the reader’s mind.
